The series set in the fictional Middle-earth feature the quest for the ring by the Hobbits. They ultimately must fight an epic battle to unite the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. All three instalments were box office blockbusters with the total world-wide revenue totalling almost $3 billion dollars.
